The Brenta Riviera, just 10 minutes by car from the Hotel Lucy, is the ancient highway from Venice to Padua, known throughout the world for the great number of splendid Venetian Villas that overlook it. Formerly the summer residences or “villa-farms” of Venice's patrician families, they have come down to us in all their fascination. Don't pass up a chance to see Palladio's marvelous, 16th-century Villa Foscari La Malcontenta in Mira and the 18th-century Villa Reale Pisani in Strà, with frescoes by Tiepolo and a scenic park with a curious labyrinth.

The SITA bus that will take you to Padua in 30 minutes on the tollway stop just 50 meters from the Hotel Lucy. The city's old town center is a pleasant succession of piazzas and medieval and Renaissance palazzi, open-air markets, stores and boutiques with a lively atmosphere thanks to the many students of the ancient University (Palazzo Bo) and historic cafés like Pedrocchi. There are splendid masterpieces in the beautiful basilicas of Santa Giustina and Sant’Antonio da Padua (a destination for a great many of the faithful every year on June 13th) and in the Cappella degli Scrovegni, with frescoes by Giotto.
